Dubrovnik - Stone and Absence

Dubrovnik is a theatre-city whose white stone walls absorb light with blinding intensity. In this street photography series, I approached this city not as a historical backdrop, but as a space of pure geometry. Here, stone is not just a material; it is a mirror that captures the centuries and returns them as polished reflections.

The mineral silence.

In the narrow labyrinth of alleyways, I searched for moments of emptiness. Where the crowd fades away, the city finally breathes. What interested me was the verticality of the walls and the way cast shadows cut through space, creating almost abstract compositions. Every step, every corner becomes a study in texture and contrast.

The human figure, set back.

In this monumental setting, the human figure becomes a fleeting silhouette, almost an accident. A resident hanging out laundry or a lone passer-by underscores, through their presence, the immensity of time that pervades the place. My photos try to capture this quiet dialogue between the permanence of the rock and the fragility of the present moment.
